Windows, Not Our Own

Windows
facing an alley
facing the street
facing another window
backyard basketball court
garden driveway fountain playpen
Windows
facing other windows
Hello, windows and
Goodbye, windows
blind windows, black and boarded
facing highways
facing farms.
From my window: trees,
birds’ nests, a porch light.
Another: ditch, garbage, weeds.
I’ve seen my life through
windows:
blankets in grass,
love in grass,
dogs horses cows goats
prisons bridges skyscrapers,
building a world of glass.
